this is the old redland drive-in theater in redland (between nacogdoches and lufkin on 59); i know people who saw movies there when they were kids in the '70s. up until just recently, the property was being used by some kind of scrap metal business. the marquee up front had been covered with a yellow, plastic tarp with the name of the business on it. so it was nice to get this shot (and others)! before the scrap metal business, I think it sat unused for a short period. and before that (in the mid to late 80s), it had shown XXX movies. the area between nacogdoches and lufkin had a really bad reputation (much deserved) for years.
